The James For Change Foundation doesn't just show up and leave. The work is designed to be implemented in schools, in legal systems, in communities, so that what James brings becomes something your institution can sustain.
Helping Students See Farther, So They Can Live Better
Prevention is the highest form of public safety. The Horizon Initiative is a school-based student development program that supports middle and high school students in building decision-making skills, personal responsibility, and future planning capacity.
Delivered through structured small-group sessions called Legacy Labs, the program gives students a consistent, facilitated space to strengthen critical thinking, leadership behaviors, and positive peer engagement. This is a sustained partnership model, not a one-time assembly.
Leaving incarceration doesn't mean leaving the system behind. The Foundation connects returning citizens with legal resources, guidance, and direct assistance: the kind James himself provided during law school and has continued ever since.
From record restrictions to pardon applications to restoration of rights, the Foundation navigates the legal landscape so individuals can focus on rebuilding.
Speaking brings people in. But the Foundation is built for districts and schools that want something they can actually implement: recurring programming, structured curriculum, and a sustained presence that moves the needle over time.
Some tiers are available at reduced or no cost depending on school context. Reach out and we'll find a fit.
Whether it’s a school assembly, a conference keynote, or a semester-long partnership, James and the Foundation meet you where you are. Reach out and we’ll find the right fit.
Every gift funds the programs above — education, mentorship, and second-chance opportunities for people the system has left behind.
